The face accommodates the most important human senses such as sight, hearing, taste and smell and is decisively involved in the expression of emotions. As a “communication center”, the head is an important area where sensors can be placed to detect the activity and state of the user, especially emotions, cognitive activity and interaction.
The project goal of HeadSense is to develop a wearable for the head and facial area that offers high user acceptance and usability with the sensitivity of the face in mind. Our focus at Intex within the project, is to balance aspects of well-being such as comfort, weight distribution, heat generation, haptics, aesthetics and social acceptance together with the quality of the sensors.
Possible applications include portable systems for science education, support of group collaboration and healthcare.
