The Design Research Lab is a laboratory for experimental design and research reflecting on the digital society. Through playful interventions, critical making and collaborative reasoning we investigate possible futures. As a platform and network, we are deeply involved with the requirements and policies needed for an inclusive and sustainable development of the digital society from a design perspective.
We are an interdisciplinary team of designers, researchers, tech-enthusiasts and critical thinkers from Berlin University of the Arts, German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society, as well as Einsteincenter Digital Future (ECDF).
The Lullaby Box allows an easy lullaby audio recording and allocation to the region the singing person originates from. It has an integrated touch screen with recording and mapping function. The booth is a private space participants can enter in order to sing and record their favorite lullaby – one they remember best from their childhood. They then can assign the audio recording to a geographical place – were they grew up as child. The collection appears on a map that provides an overview regarding the origins of the participants. The songs can be listened to on the website of the lullaby box.
The lullabies were recorded during the Living Future Event of the Future Forum Foundation (DIZF).
